Who are you following?

The man in this picture was one of the influencers in my life. He didn't have a social media presence. No twitter handle. No image that needed to be manufactured or maintained. He had no fame and no fortune. My dad was a simple man that gave me everything he had. He loved me. He believed in me. He showed me how to work hard. He showed me what living by faith looked like. I saw first hand that a faith walk was not always an easy walk. It took grit. It took stubbornness sometimes. Stubbornness to believe that God's word and His promises were true. Stubborn faith to believe that the God of the bible was alive, was for us, and would make a way where there was no way.

He didn't have it all figured out and wasn't without flaws. But he knew God's will for his life and he had an assurance that could not be shaken. He had a faith that could not be moved. My heart was in good hands with my dad.

Today there are influencers everywhere. All competing and fighting for our attention. I ask myself and I pose the same questions to you. Who are you following? Where are they leading you? Is your heart in good hands?

We only have one heart, and it is God's desire that we guard it above all else.

"Guard your heart above all else,

for it determines the course of your life" (Proverbs 4:23, NLT).
